SCORING
AND TIME-OUTS
NUMBER
OF GAMES: All
matches shall consist of the best of two (2), best of two (2) out of
three (3) games, or best of three (3) out of (5).
POINT:
Using rally scoring,
every time the ball is served a point is scored by the winning team, except
when the scoring for both teams is frozen.
Both teams are frozen when the first team has reached the twelfth
(12th) point, side-out and the opposing team has received it’s single
additional point. At this time
standard side out volleyball scoring will apply and either team can only score
points by winning the serve.
SIDE
OUT: When the
receiving team wins the rally and gets to serve.
MATCH:
A
match is won or completed by best of two (2) out of three (3) games.
GAME
POINT: The
first team to score fifteen (15) (18) or (21) points and have a two (2)
point advantage.
Otherwise play will continue until either team has a two
(2) point advantage and at least fifteen (15) points.
CORING
IN A FORFEITED GAME: If
a game is forfeited due to an insufficient amount of players or a team
refusing to start a game, the forfeiting team shall lose the game by a
score of fifteen (15) to zero (0).
The forfeiting team shall lose the match by a score of three (2)
to zero (0). Depending on round robin or pool play or play off.
SCORING
IN A DEFAULTED GAME: If
a team defaults due to the injury of a player or the dismissal of a team
member by the referee, any points scored prior shall count.
The winning team shall be awarded fifteen (15) points or at least
enough points to allow them a two (2) point advantage.
REQUEST
FOR TIME-OUTS: A
request for a time-out may be called only by the team captain when the
ball is dead. A time-out
may not be called once the score call beckoning the service or before
the play is dead.
NUMBER
OF TIME-OUTS: Each
team shall be allowed two (2) time-out periods limited to sixty (60)
seconds each per game.
The team that called the time-out may terminate the time-out
period before sixty (60) seconds have expired by indicating they are
ready to resume the game.
FAILURE
TO RETURN TO GAME AFTER TIME-OUT EXPIRATION OR TEAM DELAY: If
a team does not resume play immediately after the signal ending a
time-out period, the team will be charged with another time-out.
If both time-outs have been used by a team, the team shall be
penalized and a point or side-out called, depending on which team has
possession of the ball.
CONSECUTIVE
TIME-OUTS: Two
(2) timeouts may be called consecutively by a team without resuming
play.
If a third time-out is called a side-out or point will be
awarded.
If, however, the serving team calls a time-out in an attempt to
disrupt play or gain an advantage, they shall be penalized with a loss
of service.
If a similar attempt for a third time-out is made by the
receiving team, the serving team shall be awarded the point.
INJURY
TIME-OUTS: The
referee shall stop the game when he discovers a player has been
injured.. If the injured player cannot continue the game, a substitution
may be called, the game may be forfeited or the team may play without
the injureded player, i.e. two (2) against three (3) or three (3) against
four (4). Up to two (2)
substitutions per game shall be allowed.
A player cannot re-enter a subsequent game of the match.
An injury time-out period may be requested after an injury
time-out has expired if the team has not used their two (2) time-outs.
If the game must be stopped or delayed to remove an injured
player from the court, no time-out will be called no matter how long it
takes to remove the player safely.
